BREAKING NEWS: Molena Man Arrested After Firing Shots in Zebulon and Barnesville

BARNESVILLE and ZEBULON - A 21 year old Molena resident has been charged with shooting related crimes in Barnesville and Zebulon that took place on May 21, 2022.

There was an armed robbery in Barnesville and a drive by shooting at a Zebulon residence.

Barnesville

21 year old Austin Daughtery of Molena was arrested last night for an armed robbery that took place on Harris Drive in Barnesville on May 21, 2022. He fled the scene after attempting to rob a resident at gunpoint.

Thanks to several tips, surveillance footage, Sgt. Jesse Blackmon and Ptl. David Manoogians quick response, Barnesville PD was able to identify Daughtery.

Warrants were issued and sent to Pike County where he was arrested by Daughtery's probation officer and Pike County Deputies.

Barnesville Police Department has charged Daughtery with Aggravated Assault, Criminal Damage to Property 2nd Degree, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Chief Craig Cooper from the Barnesville Police Department gave this statement after the arrest, "I would like to thank everyone for there part in identifying Daughtery and helping us in getting this subject off the street. We are very thankful and blessed no one was injured in the incident. Thank you for your continued support!"

Zebulon

On May 21, 2022, the Zebulon Police Department responded to a drive by shooting in the Wrightsburg Subdivision in Zebulon.

While on scene of the drive by Officers received a look out for suspects that attempted to commit an armed robbery and fired three shots at a victim in Barnesville.

Investigators with the Barnesville PD and the Zebulon PD followed up on numerous leads, which led the Barnesville PD to identify a suspect Austin Daughtery of Molena. The Barnesville PD obtained warrants for Daughtery, and he was apprehended by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office at his residence after he attempted to flee on foot.

The Zebulon PD continued to gather information to link Daughtery to the drive by shooting in the city. They were able to obtain evidence and link Daughtery to the scene.

Daughtery will be facing charges in both Pike and Lamar Counties for the shootings.

A statement from Zebulon PD said, "Fortunately all of the victims in both cases were unharmed and only minor property damage was done. We would like to thank the rapped and diligent efforts of the Barnesville PD the Pike County Sheriffs office and the Zebulon PD patrol officers all of which did an amazing job to quickly apprehend Daughtery."

Daughtery will be charged today with two counts of Aggravated Assault because there were two people in the home at the time of the shooting, Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
