ZEBULON - The proposed budget for the the 2024-2025 year has been presented to the county commission. The meeting notes are not complete, but readers can study the budget in depth through the links below. At this time, the county manager has only scheduled one public hearing on May 15, 2024 at 9 a.m. rather than one daytime hearing and one night time hearing, but hopefully this will change so the citizens can ask questions and voice concerns (if needed) about the budget and what it contains. At this time, there is $2.5 million more in proposed expenditures than there is projected revenue to cover the costs of running the county next year.
Here is a link to the budget summary that will give an overview of the proposed 2024-2025 budget. Click here to download this document.

[Note from the Editor: Please feel free to drop a note below or sent me a text or a private message regarding the budget as you walk through it. I'm reading through it too and will be preparing my annual list of questions as I go through it. This is your tax money too so no question is dumb. It has taken me years (and a lot of time with Carol Bass and Margie Trammell) to learn how to read a budget, and I still ask for help from time to time.]
