ZEBULON - Tax assessments were mailed last week. There will be a change that is coming. THIS IS NOT A BILL. You’re getting an estimate. It will show 11.9% from last year (as is required by state law), but the county does not know what the final digest will be so the assessment will be incorrect as far as the final payment goes until the millage rate is set in the fall.

The standard rate on residential property was $60 per square foot. It went up to $91 this year because the value has changed this year. If the estimate is incorrect, reach out to the Tax Assessor at 770-567-2002.

The assessments should be between 38 and 40% each year. When it is low, the county does not receive as much money from utilities as we are allowed to receive.

The county is hoping to roll back to 9.5% for the millage rate.
