ZEBULON - Chief Appraiser Greg Hobbs asked taxpayers to check their tax assessments to be sure that past homestead exemptions, CUVA, etc. remain properly applied to their properties.

At the past meeting of the Board of Tax Assessors, he advised members of the Board that there have been some glitches in the WinGap system that have brought 16 people to the Tax Assessor’s Office to get corrections to their tax assessments.

He stressed that elderly residents should check to be sure that their exemptions from this year are the same as last year. “It's not everyone, but it's a LOT easier to fix it now than later.”
