Brayden Pilkenton Earns Elpis Athlete Award

ZEBULON - Pike County High School senior, Brayden Pilkenton, earned the Elpis Athlete Award. The award is given to high school and college athletes who demonstrate through their actions and words a desire to help others. Pilkenton continues to look for ways to volunteer and lend a helping hand anytime he can. He holds his peers accountable for their actions while doing the same for himself.

According to Pilkenton’s Ag teacher and youth pastor Shane Moore, “Brayden Pilkenton is a phenomenal young man in the classroom, on the field, and anywhere else you encounter him. He strives to live out his faith journey in every aspect of his life. He not only “talks the talk, but he walks the walk”. Brayden prides himself in leading by example.”

Pilkenton is a star on Pike County High School football team and is an officer in the FFA. He volunteers for the local rodeos each year. He is also a dedicated member of Mt. Olive Church, as well as a vital part of the Life Springs Church youth group.

He is the son of Scott and Lisa Pilkenton and brother to Mack.

The Elpis Athlete Award was created in 2018 by Todd Child. Athletes from as far away as Florida have received the Award. Child states that he chose Pilkenton because, “Every time I have heard Pilkenton’s name or seen him in action, it is always something about him doing something positive in people’s lives. I am totally impressed with this young man’s life.”
