ZEBULON - On April 2, 2023 at 4:09 pm, Pike County Fire Department personnel responded to 2310 Patton Rd, Griffin, for reported barn fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and completed salvage and overhaul.

The cause was determined to be a burning a pile of brush, left unattended by a neighbor. The fire spread to the adjacent neighbor’s barn.

Williamson, Second District, Concord, Zebulon, and Lifsey Springs Fire Stations responded to the fire and were on the scene for approximately 3 hours. It took about 3600 gallons to put out the fire.

The building was about an 80% loss to structure and contents.

A cool item of note about this fire is that there was a father and son fighting fire together: Kevin and Mason Gilham.
