CONCORD - Boys & Girls Clubs of West Georgia’s Pike County Unit will close its operation on September 30, 2013, following five years of service to the Pike County community. This closing comes as the result of recent funding cuts to the club of $50,000. The club will continue its operation as regularly scheduled through September, with all services offered as normal, including after-school transportation.
“This is definitely not an easy decision to make for our organization,” said Bart McFadden, the organization’s executive director. “However, the recent cuts to our funding for the upcoming year make it unsustainable for us to continue to operate this location.”
“We want to thank the members, parents, staff and the volunteer board who have helped make this Club happen in Pike County for the past five years,” McFadden stated.
Notification of parents will begin immediately to allow them as much time as possible to make alternate arrangements for their child’s daily after school needs.
The club, located in Concord, provided daily after school and non-school day programing since its opening in 2008. The Club served a total of 74 members during the past year.
