ZEBULON - At 7:59 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, there was a collision between a vehicle and a bicycle on Hwy 19 near Old Zebulon Road. The driver of the 2024 Ford F250 was traveling south down Hwy 19 when the rider of a bicycle was struck by the right side mirror of his vehicle.
Georgia State Patrol investigated and found that the driver of the bicycle, 49 year old Brad Downey, was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, and that the bicycle did not have functioning reflective signs or lights in the dark.
The driver of the F250, 41 year old Jeremiah Millwood, stated that he was moving left to get away from the bicycle when the bicycle turned into his vehicle which resulted in the bicycle rider being struck by his side mirror. He also stated that the rider asked him for a ride to Thomaston after impact.
Based on the roadway evidence, the investigative Trooper found that both vehicles were in the southbound lane at the time of the collision and that the driver of the F250 did not leave the roadway. According to the drawing of the accident, the driver of the F250 was on the actual roadway and the bicyclist turned into him from where he was riding on the edge of the roadway.
The driver of the bicycle was cited for driving under the influence and not having reflective signs or lights on his bicycle when riding in the dark.
The bicycle rider was transported to Grady by air ambulance.
