UPDATED: Bridge Replacement on Concord Road at Birch Creek IS NOW OPEN!

CONCORD - Updated 1.8.24: The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) began replacement of the bridge on CR 333/Concord Road at Birch Creek, approximately two miles north of the city of Concord on July 26, 2023. The project is complete, and the road is now open.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) will begin Project #0017424 for Pike County. This project would replace the bridge on CR 333/Concord Road at Birch Creek, approximately two miles north of the city of Concord. The closure will begin July 26, 2023 at Bottoms Rd and Pedenville Rd/ Turner Intersection.

The bridge would be a three-span bridge, approximately 135 feet long by 29.75 feet wide over Birch Creek, and would be constructing using existing alignment. The proposed roadway typical section would include two travel lanes that would be 11 feet wide with shoulders six feet wide (two feet paved, four feet grassed).

An off-site detour would be utilized and the estimated time for construction would be 12 months.
