Bull Bash in Meansville By Guest Columnist Johnnie Ann Gaskill
MEANSVILLE - On March 30th and 31st, between 1600 and 1700 people gathered at Chestnut Oak for the 2nd annual Bull Bash. The attendance was good, though less than expected due to heavy rains on Friday night and Saturday morning.
Summer White, who co-produced the event with her husband, Wayne White, reports that 32 brave young men, most under the age of 30, rode the bulls in the slippery, mud-filled arena.
Bull riders who won on Friday night were: Austin Williams (from Brooks GA), 1st place Jay Miller (Liberty SC), 2nd place Jeramy Key (Arch Dale, NC) and 3rd place Spencer Myers (TN). Saturday night’s winners were: 1st place Bradney Tart (NC), 2nd Carlos Garcia of ( Hammondsport, NY) who rode for the first time since his recent injury, and 3rd Jay Miller (Liberty, SC).
The bull riding competition was held in memory of Jo Jo Sullivan (Buckhead, GA), who competed in last year’s event.
