President Jimmy Carter Laid to Rest; Funeral Procession Passes Through Middle Georgia

PLAINS, GEORGIA - Here are photos from 39th President Jimmy Carter's funeral procession. He was 100 years old when he passed away on Sunday.

The motorcade began this morning in Plains, Georgia where he was born and raised. It is also where he owned a peanut farm which is one of the things he is remembered for. He is also remembered for the countless hours that he and his wife Rosalynn have given to Habitat for Humanity over the past 40 years.

These photos were taken by Sharon Miller down in Plains and again on Hwy 19 North when she somehow got in front of the motorcade of vehicles and stopped to take more pictures that she has shared with Pike County Times.

Kelly Montgomery shared a video of the Carter funeral procession. She took the video from the Dames Ferry bridge in Forsyth. Click here to view the video.
