Collier's Community Services Is Providing Meals to Needy Families

ZEBULON - Collier’s Community Services Inc. is a 501c3 non profit organization which provide meals to needy families on a weekly basis and is looking to expanding our services to children in need. “Collier’s Lunchbag Ministries” will provide nutritious meals over the weekend for children.

Applications for participation will be available for parents to pick up every Saturday at the Collier’s Community Services from 11 am until 2 pm located at 145 Industrial Drive, Zebulon. It is important that a list of all allergies is noted on the application.

We will be asking that families with 1-2 kids pick up on Thursday evenings and families with 3 or more kids pick up on Fridays during times that will be given to after your application is accepted. This program will run on $10 donation monthly from each parent. There are exceptions, but you must qualify. Children will be fed breakfast lunch, dinner and 2 snacks for $2.50 per week.

Collier's Community Services is asking for monetary donations from the community to help provide nutritious meal to all children so that no children go hungry.

Collier's Community Services is also in need of a couple of freezers. If you have a chest or upright freezer of medium or large size that you would like to donate or would like to make a donation, please contact Pike County Times at editor@pikecountytimes.com or 770-468-7583 and I'll get you in touch with Collier's Community Services, Inc.

Other ways that you can help is by donating food, money, and volunteering your time. There is a tractor trailer that brings food on pallets and that food needs to be sorted and putting food in its proper place. Phyllis Collier, Director of Collier's Community Services, told Pike County Times, "I have always had a heart to help those in need and I’m making my vision come to life by providing meals and clothing to those in need this will insure no kid goes hungry."

Kiwanis Club of Pike County recently donated $600 to Collier's Community Services to cover the cost of meals for needy children over the weekends. This $600 will buy 6000 cases of food, each containing 8 meals. The picture above is Kiwanis member Trisha Dabbs presenting the check to Santeria Collier of Collier's Community Services, Inc.
