SPALDING - Spalding County is thrilled to announce the hiring of Mr. David Allen as the new Community Development Director. A Georgia native, Mr. Allen has proudly called Pike County home for the past 25 years.
His extensive career spans three decades, including diverse experiences from Norfolk, Virginia, to various cities in Georgia, such as Macon, Fayetteville, Zebulon, and Jonesboro.
Mr. Allen brings with him 30 years of expertise in design and development, with a significant 15-year focus on local government zoning. He is a registered landscape architect in Georgia, further underscoring his credentials and commitment to the field.
In his new role, Mr. Allen will oversee and provide guidance on zoning cases, permitting, construction project management, and updates to land use codes. His prior roles include serving as the Community Development Director for Jonesboro from 2018 to 2024 and the Planning and Development Director for Pike County from 2009 to 2018.
Dr. Ledbetter, County Manager, and Erica Dye, Deputy County Manager, express their enthusiasm about Mr. Allen’s employment with the county. Dr. Ledbetter stated, "Mr. Allen comes to us with a wealth of experience in both county and city community development. We are excited about the positive impact he will have on our community.” Mr. Allen is eager to engage with the residents, business owners, and stakeholders of Spalding County.
