GRIFFIN - W. Len Moore, Vice President for Adult Education recently announced that Kelsy Dawsey has been chosen to represent Southern Crescent Technical College’s Adult Education Program at the EAGLE (Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education) Leadership Institute in Atlanta on February 13-15, 2012. The Leadership Institute recognizes and honors those students who have demonstrated superior achievement in adult education classes and programs.
Ms. Dawsey was chosen from the winners of the local EAGLE competition for Southern Crescent Technical College Adult Education’s Service Delivery Area (SDA) which consists of the following ten counties: Butts, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Fayette, Pike, Spalding, Talbot, Taylor and Upson. Of the ten county SDA, seven locations were represented in the EAGLE competition. Participants were judged on a speech and interview session by judges: Toni Doaty, Billy Elder and Linda Smith-Olivier. The following are local EAGLE winner names and nominating instructors for the seven counties that were represented in the SDA competition: Tabitha DeJean, nominated by Erin Dickey from Butts County; Mark Anthony Alexander, nominated by Judy Cook-Snider from Fayetteville; Donald Thomas, nominated by Jennifer Barber from Peachtree City; Shalena Bunn, nominated by Katie Dallas from Lamar County; Kelsy Dawsey, nominated by Carol Tucker from Pike County; Johnny Terrell, nominated by Joe Grubbs from Spalding County; and Steven Mark Sims, Jr., nominated by Chelsea McGhee from Upson County. EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs. This student recognition program is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities that are available in local communities across the state and to foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.
The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) through its Office of Adult Education (OAE) sponsors the annual Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Leadership Institute.
