MEANSVILLE - Dewey Stout, member of Troop 37 out of Meansville, is working to earn his Eagle Scout rank and is raising funds to complete his project.
Dewey will be building a meditation garden at the Liberty Hill Community Church and Cemetery. "This garden will allow a place for families to come and visit their loved ones who have passed on," he said. "The meditation garden will include two concrete benches for sitting, a birdbath, several different types of colorful flowers, a trellis and smaller shrubs." The local community cares for this particular cemetery. It is a non-profit organization.
Dewey is currently in his 11th year of scouting. He is an instructor in Troop 37 and is responsible for training younger Scouts in Scout skills. He has also held other positions in scouting including Assistant Patrol Leader and Quartermaster.
He is also taking classes at Southern Crescent Technical College to prepare for his future even as he finishes his senior year at Lamar County High School. He is active in the Skills USA Club which competes in trade skills including electrical and masonry. He is also very active in his youth group at Barnesville Church of the Nazarene.
