James Jenkins, Incumbent

Citizens of Pike County,

James Jenkins, Commissioner of District 4, would like to thank you for the last 3 years of being a county commissioner. I have 3 loves in my life, God, Family and Pike county. Pike County has been our home for 25 years and Lisa, myself and our 12 children have loved it. We attend Church of Joy in Williamson. My full time job is with Food Depot Southside in Griffin. I am Chairman of the advisory board for Salvation Army covering 4 counties, Spalding, Pike, Lamar, and Upson. I have been on this board for 22 years. Also I am on the Board of United Way for this area.

The last 3 years have been great in that we have accomplished a lot on the commission board for the better of Pike County. We have streamlined the budget and cut unnecessary spending. Any large spending we now submit for sealed bids to ensure savings for the county. We hired a county manager (John Hanson) that is in his 3rd year. In the past it was hard to keep a county manager for any length of time. We have worked to get along with all departments and we do have a great working relationship with each department. Jimmy Thomas, Sheriff, has worked with the county to keep cost in line and most counties do not have that relationship with the Sheriff. Public Works have worked hard with us in keeping our roads in better shape. We have a 5 year plan to improve the roads in Pike County. As a board we brought prayer back in the commissioner meeting and God has blessed Pike for this I believe. Ben Maxedon has organized this and thanks go to him. I would like to commend all commissioners for the order we have in the meetings and for working together for the good of all.

I would like to ask you to re-elect me to continue the work we have started. My plan is that we have moderate growth and encourage small business to move to Pike County. If you have any questions from me please feel free to call my cell phone 770-468-4149. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve this county as Commissioner of District 4.

James Jenkins
District 4 Commissioner

Dale Jackson, Challenger

Hello! My name is Dale Jackson. I have been a Pike County resident for 43 years. I love it here and I can't think of any better place my daughters could have grown up. I know the future holds great things for Pike County.

I worked as a volunteer fireman in Zebulon/Pike County for 33 years, 20 of those years as a volunteer Fire Chief with Zebulon Fire Department. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I learned that I have a passion for helping others. I worked with JCPenny for 30 years and then spent 11 years with Spalding County as a correctional officer. I retired from Spalding County in July 2015.

I would love the opportunity to serve my county as District 4 County Commissioner. I will listen to your concerns and be a voice for you. I am honest and hard working. I will dedicate my time to become involved and help my community in any way I can.

Don't forget to VOTE May 24, 2016.
