2020 Election Information on Pike County Superior Court Clerk

ZEBULON - This is a four (4) year seat currently held Pam Thompson who began serving after Superior Court Clerk Carolyn Williams retired on March 1, 2019.

Pam Thompson, Incumbent, has qualified for this seat. She is being challenged by Rebekah Hanson. Both qualified on the Republican ticket. The winner will take office on January 1, 2021.

Pam Thompson, Incumbent

My name is Pam Thompson. It has been my pleasure for nineteen years to serve you. This is not a job I take lightly. What we do and how well we do it, affects you. With nineteen years of service in an extremely efficient office, it would be my honor to continue to serve you as your Superior Court Clerk. Though technology has changed our office a great deal, I never want it to replace the personal ways that our office responds to the individual citizens of Pike County.

I was married for 43 years to Tim Thompson. We had 5 children before I was widowed in 2016. We now have 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Three of our children live in Pike County: Matt & Ashley Thompson, Laura & Ricki Reeves, and Callie Thompson. Our 2 oldest children are Becky (Steve) Haddox and Brent (Christie) Thompson. I have worked in the clerk’s office since 2001, shortly after moving to Pike County. I served as deputy clerk for nine years, chief deputy for nine years and was appointed Clerk of Superior Court on March 1, 2019. I have worked in each of our 4 major departments: Civil, Criminal, Juvenile and Real Estate, and I continue to update my training.

Many people ask me what the clerk’s office does. We are mainly responsible for keeping records. Every record that enters our office is date stamped and filed. Newer records are scanned into the computer, while older records dating back as far as 1823 are located in the index books maintained in our office. All of these records, with the exception of juvenile and adoptions, are open to the public.

Our civil, criminal and juvenile departments date stamp, file and assign a case number and judge to each case. We then compile a court calendar, notify all parties and attorneys of their court date, issue summons, and subpoenas. Civil cases include divorce, adoption, child support and contract accounts among others. Criminal includes all felony and misdemeanor cases, while juvenile handles all delinquent cases, children under the age of eighteen and dependency cases, such as children requiring care.

Our real estate department affects nearly every resident of Pike County. Each time a property exchanges hands, the deed is recorded in our office. Each deed, plat and lien is recorded, with a book and page number before scanning and transmitting them. After proofing and indexing them, they are available for you to view on your home computer or in our record room.

We are responsible for issuing jury summons for grand jury and trials. It is also our job to transmit appeals to the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.

My office is always open to you. Please come by the Courthouse, and I will give you a personal tour.

I would appreciate your vote on June 9, 2020!
