Gordon to Award First Biology Degrees

BARNESVILLE - Gordon will reach another milestone as the first class of students to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in biology is awarded diplomas during commencement exercises Friday, May 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Other degrees to be awarded include Bachelor of Science in early childhood education, Bachelor of Science in nursing, Associate of Science in nursing as well as Associate of Art degrees and Associate of Science degrees in different programs of study.

There are approximately 583 candidates for graduation.

The graduates, as well as administration, faculty members and Marshal Stephen Raynie, will be lead in procession onto Lambdin Green by bagpiper Michael Grest. The bagpiper is a long-held tradition for Gordon College and bows to the Scottish Highland roots of General John B. Gordon for whom the college is named.

Ed Mitchell Jr., a trustee on the Gordon College Foundation, will address the graduates.
