CITY OF ZEBULON WILL BEGIN SPLOST DRAINAGE PROJECT IN AUGUST 2024

ZEBULON - The City of Zebulon is excited to announce the start date of a much-anticipated project that will improve drainage along Jackson, Pine and Thomas Streets. The project is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August lst.

The funding for this project will come from 2022 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) and GDOT Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) sources. The City has selected Zebulon-based Helix Grading and Utility, LLC to complete the project for a sum of $325,261.00.

The project will add (I) curb and gutter and storm drainage along Jackson Street from Griffin Street to Depot Street; (2) improve drainage along Thomas Street from Meansville Street to Evans Street; and (3) improve drainage in the area between Pine Street and Pike Billiards.

This project is estimated to last 150 days.

During the construction on Jackson Street, which is expected to take four to five weeks, through traffic will be prohibited during working hours. A portion of Banks Street will be closed near the apartments for storage of materials. City of Zebulon urges residents to drive with caution and be courteous to the crews working on the project.

Carter and Sloope Engineers out of Macon, Georgia provided the design, permitting and bid management for the project and will continue to monitor the construction together with City personnel.

The City of Zebulon is committed to improving drainage and safety in the community. We will continue to plan and improve storm drainage and safety for our citizens and businesses in the City.

Please contact Zebulon City Hall at 770-567-8748 with any further questions or concerns.
