CONCORD - On Saturday, October 18th, there will be a Jubilee Jaunt before the official start of the Concord Jubilee with all proceeds going to fund missions in Africa. A team headed by Scott Hollingsworth of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Fayetteville will be going to Zimbabwe July 13-17, 2015 to do construction and renovation on Sanyati Baptist Hospital.
According to a press release for this upcoming trip, this hospital was built 60 years ago to provide a place of healing as well as an opportunity to share the Gospel with the people of Africa. Replacement of the roof, wiring, plumbing, etc. will be a part of a five year makeover for the hospital that will be provided through the help of many churches and volunteers. Churches from several states have been there with many volunteers to work on this project already.
Another trip is being planned by Union Baptist Church out of McDonough to go in July of 2015 as well. Organizers are looking for donations of non-prescription medicinal supplies as well as funds to purchase construction materials. Local runners can help by being a part of the Jubilee Jaunt on October 18th. Race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the 1/2 mile Fun Run at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K at 7:45 a.m. Awards will be given immediately following the race.
