Award-Winning Novelist Laurel Blount Releases Tenth Book; 3rd in Johns Mill Amish Romance Series

THOMASTON - On April 25th, Laurel Blount, an award-winning author of inspirational romance and a longtime resident of Thomaston, released her tenth traditionally published book, "Courage in the Storm."

"Courage in the Storm" is the third book in Blount’s Johns Mill Amish Romance series, published by Berkley, an imprint of Penguin Random House. It unfolds the story of Miriam Hochstedler, a young woman battling severe anxiety after witnessing her parents’ murders.

Unable to set foot off her family farm, Miriam bonds with Breeze, a traumatized horse, dangerously unmanageable after a buggy accident. To save the animal from being put down, she forges a heart-tugging friendship with horse whisperer Reuben Brenneman—a man with scars and secrets of his own.

While researching this book, Blount reached out to local equine expert, Jami Ellington Delacruz. Delacruz, a Yatesville resident, is a third generation farrier with experience rehabilitating traumatized horses.

“Jami generously invited me to her farm, walked me through her process of rehabilitating an injured horse, and answered dozens of questions,” Blount said. “Thanks to this remarkable woman, Reuben Brenneman and the horses in his care came vividly to life.”

Blount also reached out to Dr. Jennifer Wilson, DVM while researching this book. "Jennifer graciously double-checked my depiction of horse injuries and treatments," Blount said.

Laurel Blount is a graduate of R. E. Lee High School and has lived in Thomaston for over thirty years with her husband David and their four children. In addition to her Amish series, she writes inspirational romance for Love Inspired, a division of Harper Collins.

She’s the recipient of the Georgia Romance Writers’ Maggie Award for Excellence, the New England Readers’ Choice Award and the American Christian Fiction Writers’ prestigious CAROL award. She is represented by Jessica Alvarez of Bookends Literary Agency.

"Courage in the Storm" is available for purchase now at Wal Mart, Target and Barnes and Noble, as well as online retailers such as Amazon.

The fourth and final book of the Johns Mill Amish Romance series, Home from the Storm, is scheduled for release in December.
