Pike County American Legion 5/10K Run/Walk for Veterans

ZEBULON - The Pike County American Legion Post 197 is excited to announce the first of several 5/10K Run/Walk fund raisers starting Saturday, April 16, 2016. This event is the pilot test for hopefully similar events around Pike County. Everyone is invited to join us!

There is a choice between a 5K and a 10K course starting at the Post facility located on 645 Meansville Road in Zebulon, Georgia. Depending on the course chosen, participants will get a scenic view of Zebulon and surrounding Pike County countryside. Participants can either walk, run, or walk/run either of the courses. Map is below the article.

It is not a race; there is no mass start. Participants can arrive and start any time between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Each course will be marked and will have rest areas where participants will get their card stamped and can partake in assorted refreshments to help them through the course. Throughout the day, a festive German environment will be simulated for additional German related foods and beverages.

Early pre-registration is $25. Late registration is $35 after April 9, 2016 and day of event. All who register will get a T-shirt and free event snacks and beverages. Regardless of registration, each participant is guaranteed a T-shirt. Due to late registration, T-shirt may not be available at the day of the event; however, one will be mailed. So, register early and wear your T-shirt on your walk/run. Those who registered, but could not attend, T-shirt will be mailed.

Registration forms can be obtained by clicking here, on the Post 197 Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Pike-American-Legion-Post-197-225780054180992/, or you can email the post at pikepost197@gmail.com. **Instructions for filling out the Registration Form are on the form itself.

There is no online registration for this event. However, registration forms can be mailed and credit card payment will be accepted for day of registration. Contact Post Commander Bryan Richardson at 770-584-9810 or rich5060@bellsouth.net with any specific questions.

This is a great family event or fitness workout. As mentioned this is the Post’s pilot test. If it goes well, the Post plans to hold similar events at each of the five Pike County cities: Concord, Meansville, Molena, Williamson, and Zebulon.

For interested event volunteers, if you would like to help at the event, please contact Post Commander Bryan Richardson at 770-584-9810 or rich5060@bellsouth.net.

The Pike County American Legion Post 197 hopes that you will consider participating is this family or individual event. Help make this a great event and pave the way for further Run/Walks around Pike County.
