Pike County American Legion 5/10K Run/Walk for Veterans and Southern Fest

MEANSVILLE - The Pike County American Legion Post 197 Legion Family is hosting its second 5K/10K Run/Walk and follow-on Summer Fest fund raisers to be held on 16 July 2016. This is a fund raiser to help support our local Veterans.

There is a choice between a 5K and a 10K course starting at the Meansville Fire Station located at 41 Means Road, Meansville, GA, 30256. Depending on the course chosen, participants will get a scenic view of Meansville and southern Pike County countryside. Participants can either walk, run, or walk/run either of the courses. It is not a race; there is no mass start. Participants can arrive and start at their leisure any time between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Each course will be marked and will have rest areas where participants will get their card stamped and can partake in assorted refreshments to help them through the course. Once you have finished your walk/run sightseeing activities, you can check out the Southern Fest starting at 11:00 a.m. There will be southern cuisine and beverages, games and a dunking booth for your entertainment. This is a great family event or individual fitness workout.

Early pre-registration is $25. Late registration is $35 after July 9, 2016 and day of event. All who register will get a T-shirt and free event snacks and beverages. Regardless of registration, each participant is guaranteed a T-shirt. Due to late registration, T-shirt may not be available at the day of the event; however, one will be mailed. So, register early and wear your T-shirt on your walk/run. Those who registered, but could not attend, a T-shirt will be mailed.

Registration forms can be obtained by emailing the post at pikepost197@gmail.com and requesting a form. Instructions for filling out the Registration Form are on the form itself. Credit card is accepted for day of registration. Contact the Post at the provided email for any specific questions.
