Investigators Search for Clues in 2010 Murder
By Editor Becky Watts

ZEBULON - The Pike County Sheriff’s Office with the help of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations and the Pike County Public Works Department is conducting an investigation on East Milner Road in reference to the 2010 murder of Christopher Lee Chambley that occurred on Reid Road.

"The investigation that led to this site is in reference to the Reid Road murder," said Sheriff Jimmy Thomas. "New information has surfaced, and we believe there is a possibility of evidence here linking this case together."

Sheriff Thomas contacted the GBI and Public Works last week, and they agreed to help with the investigation. He couldn’t discuss what was being dug up at the old home place or what the search was for but advised that the search had been ongoing since 8 a.m. this morning.

Two big equipment operators were digging up an area at the home place and placing the dirt where it could be sifted for evidence by waiting investigators and GBI technicians. Sheriff Thomas advised that OSHA regulations were being followed in the way that this site was being dug up.

“We should be able to conclude this investigation by the end of the day,” said Sheriff Thomas though he did add that digging would continue until investigators either found what they are looking for or it is determined that the evidence is not at this location.

This is an open investigation, and Sheriff Thomas advised that more information will be revealed to the media and the public as it becomes available.

UPDATE 9.26.14: When asked if the Pike County Sheriff's Office recovered any evidence that could be used in this case, Major David Neal advised the following, "We are not going to release any information at this time because it's an ongoing investigation."
