ZEBULON - Pike County Times saw mention of a high speed chase through Zebulon involving a silver Mustang on social media. Through an open records request to the Georgia State Patrol, Pike County Times obtained the following on Friday, August 16, 2024:

"The following are preliminary details as this is under investigation:

"On August 14, 2024 at 5:33pm, Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a silver Ford Mustang for speeding (77/55) on SR 3 at SR 109, south of Zebulon, GA. The driver of the Mustang failed to stop, initiating a pursuit.

"The Mustang fled north on SR 3, recklessly passing vehicles in the center turn lane, traveling in excess of 130+ MPH, and entered into the city limits of Zebulon, GA. The pursuit traveled completely through the city of Zebulon and continued north on SR 3.

"Troopers lost sight of the Mustang on SR 3 at the Spalding County Line and discontinued the pursuit at the intersection of SR 3 and SR 7/US 341.

"At 6:11pm, Troopers were able to locate the vehicle and driver at a residence on [road redacted by Pike County Times] in Griffin, GA. The driver was taken into custody, without further incident.

"Please keep in mind that the information released is preliminary in nature and could change as the investigation progresses or new information comes to light."
