ZEBULON - Styrlin Rowland, a 9th grader at Nineth Grade Academy, recently won the Hope 4 Tomorrow Optimist Club of Pike County, GA’s oratorical contest based on a theme of “Discovering the Optimism within Me.”
Rowland was awarded a certificate, medallion, and $100 check for the honor. In addition, Rowland was one of nine students that also competed at the zone level for a chance to compete at the Optimist Club area contest but failed short.
“Styrlin did a wonderful job presenting his speech about the questions posed to him and did so very creative in speaking about it regarding a clown,” Club President Emmanuel Lucas said. “The members of our Optimist Club have no doubt that Styrlin has a bright future ahead of him.”
