Day of Freedom Celebration at the West Georgia Pre-Release Center
By Editor Becky Watts

ZEBULON - It was a great way to spend some time on the day before Mother’s Day. A box of chicken for lunch, cold bottled water, tears and rejoicing, and razor wire.

Chaplain Larry and Faye “Precious” Martin brought a group of over fifty volunteers to the West Georgia Pre-Release Center in Zebulon for a “Day of Freedom” celebration. Ye Visited Me Ministries, a ministry of Souls Harbor Word Of Faith Church in Canton, has been presenting “Day of Freedom” services since 2004 using motorcycles, mimes, dance, special speakers, and music geared towards freedom and a God that can restore life, said Pastor Larry Martin. Participants are presented with an opportunity to accept Christ at the end of the day’s festivities.

“We’ve seen a lot of people delivered and set free,” Pastor Martin said. “A lot of people--Jesus found them in prison… I’m at home in here.” In fact, this ministry began while Pastor Martin was prison and continues today. Just three weeks prior to this semi-annual “Day of Freedom”, Pastor Larry was granted a full pardon which allowed him to come into the West Georgia Pre-Release Center with his ministry.

“God’s been so good to us… [the State of] Georgia said it would be 2019 before I could come in and testify [into the prison],” he said. “God has restored so much in our lives and is continuing to.” Ye Visited Me Ministries currently has over 80 certified volunteers and maintains monthly services at eight prisons in Georgia. Volunteers pay their own expenses to be a part of this ministry and travel throughout the state.

One of the volunteers brought laughter and tears as he spoke to the women about his life. John M. Lance is the President of Heaven’s Saints Motorcycle Ministry out of Cleveland, Georgia. He told how God took him out of prison and now he has been to 514 prisons testifying what God has done in his life including saving the life of one of his sons. Many of those listening wiped tears from their eyes as he identified with them, told his testimony, and said that sin is sin and God is displeased with all of it.

At the end of the afternoon, all 189 female inmates were presented with Mother’s Day Cards made in the Children’s Department at Souls Harbor Church.

According to the website of Souls Harbor Church, “The vision is to take the ministry throughout the United States into every prison so we can let some the most precious people know that God did not place them there and He hasn't forgotten them, but loves them passionately.”
