CONCORD - Kent Jones, Project Manager with C&S Paving, Inc. recently sent an email to the county praising Pike County Public Works in connection with the GDOT Highway 18/Hill Street Project.
Jones said that he want to send the county an email to let them know that Pike County Public Works employees did a great job getting the grading on Hill Street project done. He said that it was finished in a timely fashion and left C&S Paving with little to prep for the project.
"This is the first project that had local municipality setting up subbase on a Quick Response that was prepared it correctly," he said. "We do ten to twelve each year for the last 31 years with two to three each year having some prep work being done before we start and they are always prepared incorrectly, being late, or no communication at all."
He closed the note by saying that Chris Goodman and his crew did "an exceptional job and I wanted to let someone know."
A right hand turn lane has been installed at this location. The photo above is driving on Hwy 18 into Concord with a turn lane to Hill Street that will also allow drivers to make turns safely from Hill Street onto Hwy 18.
