Pike Community Resource Network “Share It Forward” Back to School Bash

ZEBULON - The Pike Community Resource Network sponsored the "Share It Forward" Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Old Middle School Building A (next to Ruth's Restaurant). Community Partners worked together to serve families in Pike County.

Community partners included Zebulon/Concord United Methodist Churches, Pike County Lions Club, Amerigroup, Prayer Power, American Legion Post #197, Pike County Boys and Girls Club, United Men of Pike, and the Pike Community Resource Network.

Highlights of this year's event included: a giant inflatable donated by Davis and Company Inflatables (call Coach Wetherbee at 770-468-4641), school supplies for Kindergarten through the 5th grade, an opportunity to meet with local organizations and health providers, vision screenings, and Kids I.D. kits.

Co-Organizer Mike Powell, from Pike Community Resource Network, said that there were already people waiting at the facility at 9 a.m. when he arrived to set up for the 9:30 kick off for the event. He said that there were waiting lines by 9:45 a.m.

Lori Pitts, Career Facilitator for the Workforce Development Center in Thomaston, volunteered with the Pike County Lions Club. She said that volunteers completed 27 vision screenings during the event. Montgomery #31 Free and Accepted Masons hosted a free Georgia Child Identification Program for all ages where Masons helped parents make 71 child identification kits.

Click here to see photos from last year's event. The annual Prayer Walk sponsored by Prayer Power of Georgia, Inc. is scheduled for Saturday August 3, 2013. It will start at 9:00 am in front of the Old Middle School on Hwy. 19. The public invited to attend.
