ZEBULON - More than 60 people attended the first annual Seussabration at the J. Joel Edwards Public Library in Zebulon on Saturday, March 2, which would have been Dr. Seuss's 109th birthday. Patrons discovered the meaning of being "democatic" from Seuss's "King Looie Katz" and learned to be creative with tardy excuses from "Marco Comes Late," read by Seuss enthusiast librarian Rosemary Bunn.
The Seuss celebration coincides with the NEA's annual Read Across America week, now in its 16th year, which focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.
To further promote the joy of reading and celebrate the works and life of Dr. Seuss, for the months of March and April the library has on display a portion of Ms. Bunn's private collection of Seuss memorabilia, including his lesser-known WWII political films and propaganda.
The library encourages patrons of all ages to enjoy this display during regular library hours: MWF 10-5, TTH 10-7, and Sat. 10-3.
