Murder Suspects Ask for Bond In Pike County Superior Court

MEANSVILLE - A bond hearing was held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 for the three suspects in the shooting death of Michael Dawe that happened on Ray Drive in Meansville on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. This District Attorney's Office were seated on the right side of the courtroom. The three suspects and their attorneys were seated on the left side of the courtroom along with six uniformed deputies.

The District Attorney's Office presented its case against these three suspects by advising Judge Tommy Hankinson that this was a drug transaction that included gang affiliation. It was also stated that the living victim identified all three suspects and that the murder weapon has been found. The District Attorney's Office argued that there is a serious threat of intimidation with this case. Judge Hankinson was asked to deny bond to these suspects.

Gregory Twymon is currently in jail. He is charged with murder, participation in gang activity, aggravated assault (2 counts), illegal use of a telecommunication device, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, armed robbery, criminal attempt possession of methamphetamine and criminal trespassing. Twymon's attorney argued that he was not a flight risk and that he has only been involved in one prior incident in 2009.

Thaddeus Holmes is charged with murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and criminal attempt to possess methamphetamine. Holmes is currently on probation from a conviction in Upson county for Aggravated Assault in 2012. Holmes' attorney asked to reserve the issue of bond for her client since she was appointed to his case on Thursday of last week and did not have the chance to subpoena witnesses for this hearing. She stated that he is on probation so he cannot go anywhere anyway.

Mylidah Harris has been arrested for murder and armed robbery. Harris' attorney argued for bond saying that she is not on probation, has no prior felonies, and has three children at home aged 5, 3, and 2. The attorney argued that Harris is not a member of a gang and that she didn't participate in the crime. However, the District Attorney's Office countered that Harris participated in the crime by actually tasting the meth and and she acted to conceal the crime.

Judge Hankinson denied bond to Gregory Twymon based on his record. The judge then denied bond for Harris noting that she has no prior record but, due to the nature of the crime, could attempt to flee jurisdiction of the court. Holmes' bond hearing was continued until the next hearing date in July.
