Zebulon - The Pike County Lady Pirates continued to improve on their current level of play as they traveled to Monticello to face the Lady Hurricanes in Region competition this week. As they had done in their previous two games, the Lady Pirates took control of the pace of play early and never looked back. Pike County’s ability to move the ball with crisp passes and energetic runs caused the Lady Hurricanes to play with their backs against the wall all evening. In a comfortable 10-0 win, the scoring was paced by Juniors Taylor Asher, Jessi Johnson and Elizabeth Woodall, who scored two goals each, while Junior Rachel Lovin, Sophomores Amy Mangham and Gianella Funes, and Freshman Ashley York contributed a goal each.
The Lady Pirates travel to Lamar County on Tuesday, April 10th for a rematch with the Lady Trojans, before hosting Monticello on Friday, April 13th for Senior Night. On Tuesday, April 16th, the Lady Pirates will attempt to avenge their only Region loss when they host the Putnam County Lady Eagles. They will finish their Region schedule with an away game against Morgan County on Friday, April 20th before closing the regular season with a home game against perennial powerhouse Brookstone High School on Wednesday, April 25th. All home games kick off at 5:30 pm so please come out and support the girls as they continue their run to a third straight Region Title and a berth in the State playoffs.
