GRIFFIN — Spalding County State Court Judge Josh Thacker has announced that Wednesday, May 31 is the new end date for a community service program granting 2-for-1 credit for area storm recovery work. The program was originally set to expire on March 31 at 11:59 p.m.
The State Court originally issued an order, Nunc Pro Tunc, on Feb. 15 (backdated to Jan. 13), ordering that probationers who performed directly supervised community service hours for Spalding County or the City of Griffin receive two hours of credit for every one hour of completed work. The community service work is geared to local disaster recovery.
“Due to the court’s order extension, we now have two additional months of critical recovery support,” said Spalding County Manager Dr. Steve Ledbetter. “We are incredibly grateful to Judge Thacker for continuing this much-needed aid to our community.”
