Secretary of State Kemp Calls for Third Sector Development to Withdraw Frivolous Voter Registration Lawsuit

ATLANTA - Yesterday, Secretary Kemp met with media and election officials across Georgia and called for Third Sector Development and The New Georgia Project to withdraw the lawsuit they filed against the Office of the Secretary of State as well as the counties of Chatham, Clayton, DeKalb, Fulton and Muscogee late last week.

“The claim that there are 40,000 missing or unprocessed voter registration applications is absolutely false,” said Kemp. “The counties have processed all of the voter registration applications that they received for the General Election.”

“Let me be clear: The State of Georgia and the counties are using the very same registration method that has been used since I have been Secretary of State. This process was pre-cleared by the United States Department of Justice and is working correctly as it always has.”

“I would ask that Third Sector Development, The New Georgia Project, The Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, Pastor Warnock, Congressman Lewis and anyone else who accused the counties of voter suppression to apologize to them and withdraw this ridiculous lawsuit.”

“If I were a county election official, I would counter-sue for legal fees related to this lawsuit. I wish this Office could do the same”.

A hearing has been set in Fulton Superior Court at 9:00 AM on Friday, October 24 to address these claims.
