Three Rivers Regional Commission Assists Medicare Beneficiaries with Determining Best-fit Options During Open Enrollment

FRANKLIN – The Three Rivers Regional Commission (TRRC) is reminding Medicare beneficiaries that the Medicare Open Enrollment period is now open, offering them the opportunity to review and make changes to their healthcare coverage for 2025. Open Enrollment began on Oct. 15, and will end on Dec. 7, therefore beneficiaries are encouraged to act soon to ensure their plan meets their needs. Navigating Medicare options can be challenging, but the Three Rivers Regional Commission is available to assist.

During Open Enrollment, beneficiaries can:

•Switch from Medicare to enhance their plans with the Medicare Advantage plan.
•Change from one Medicare Advantage plan to another.
•Enroll in or change Medicare Part D prescription drug plans.
•Return to a Medicare-only plan from a Medicare Advantage plan, if needed.

Medicare Advantage plans, sometimes referred to as “Part C” or “MA Plans,” provide an alternative to Original Medicare. These plans, offered by private insurers approved by Medicare, often include additional benefits such as vision, hearing, and dental coverage, as well as prescription drug coverage. Medicare Advantage plans typically offer access to a broader network of healthcare providers and additional services, which can result in cost savings and more comprehensive care.Plans can change annually in terms of cost, coverage and provider networks.

Through its State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), TRRC provides free, unbiased counseling to help beneficiaries understand their options and make informed decisions regarding their coverage.

“Three Rivers Regional Commission is dedicated to empowering Medicare beneficiaries with the information they need to make the best decisions for their healthcare,” Three Rivers Area Agency on Aging Program Manager Belinda Meadows said. “Whether beneficiaries are considering a Medicare Advantage plan or need to ensure their current plan is still the right fit, TRRC is here to provide guidance every step of the way.”

Beneficiaries are urged to review their options and make any necessary changes before the December 7 deadline. To schedule a free consultation, contact Three Rivers Regional Commission’s SHIP counselors at 678-552-2839.
