ZEBULON - Photos, postcards, checks, letters, and even wedding dresses and a military uniforms have been recovered after the tornados that struck across the nation on April 25 through April 28 in 2011. Patty Bullion created a Facebook page to help people from across the nation recover their missing pieces of history.
www.facebook.com/PicturesandDocumentsfoundafterAprilTornadoes is the Facebook page that Ms. Bullion created when she found photos and other precious memories in her backyard after the storms had struck in areas around where she lived. There are posts from many states now including Georgia on her Facebook page. Click here to read an article from the New York Times that was written after the storms.
Here is the Facebook post that caught my attention this morning: “Wow! I had no idea so many people did not know about this page. The number of people that have joined it since the media ran the story that I was taking it down is over 100 and we had another picture claimed! I am still going to take the page down, I don't feel like it needs to be left up forever as this was a very personal thing for these families. I will however; leave it up until at least the end of January. That should give everyone enough time to go back through the pictures and see if any of them are theirs.”
Click here to read a current article from KSLA News 12 out of Shreveport, Louisiana that tells the reasons for taking down this Facebook page.
If you know anyone who was hit by these tornadoes, pass this link www.facebook.com/PicturesandDocumentsfoundafterAprilTornadoes along to them so they can look through the various items listed on the pages to see if any of their missing precious memories have been recovered. Maybe we can help get a few more items returned to their owners in the upcoming month.
