ZEBULON - Deputies responded to a vehicle accident on Highway 19 near Pitts Lane at 11:47 a.m. today (April 8, 2023). The head on collision has resulted in one fatality and traffic investigators are currently working this incident.
Several vehicle occupants have been transported for medical treatment.
UPDATE 4.10.23:
Pike County Times spoke to Major David Neal of the Pike County Sheriff's Office advised that a second victim has passed from this incident.
Pike County Times asked if this was a possible drunk driving incident, and Major Neal advised that the Sheriff's Office is looking into any and all possible causes including a possible DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol).

Pike County Times spoke to Major David Neal of the Pike County Sheriff's Office to get an update on this wreck.
The accident reports states that Kellie Andresen, age 34 from Griffin, was driving northbound on Hwy 19 in a 2010 Nissan Altima that crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a 2008 Madza 3 driven by Andrew Hageman, age 32 from Griffin.
Hageman and his mother, Rhonda Hageman, age 61 of Fitzgerald, died from injuries sustained in the wreck. Hageman’s wife and daughter were transported to the hospital by ambulance with minor or visible injury.
Andresen was transported to the hospital with suspected serious injury.
A witness that was traveling northbound on Hwy 19 advised that a car almost side-wiped their vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed before changing lanes and crossing the center lane into the southbound lanes without trying to avoid the car that it hit head on.
The crash report advised that driving under the influence of alcohol is a suspected cause of this wreck.
“This (accident report) is subject to change as the investigation continues and should be considered a working document at this point,” said Major David Neal.
