Wreck in Front of Schools Results in Death of Motorcyclist

ZEBULON - Pike County Times contacted the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) to obtain preliminary details about a two vehicle crash that occurred in Zebulon on August 8, 2024 between Buick Envision and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and received the following:

"The following are preliminary details as this crash is under active investigation:

"On August 8, 2024 at 8:58am, Troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on SR 3 at its intersection with Old Zebulon Road in the city limits of Zebulon, GA.

"Upon arrival the investigation determined that a Buick Envision was traveling east on Old Zebulon Road approaching its intersection with SR 3. The driver failed to stop at the stop sign and attempted to travel across all lanes of SR 3 and enter onto Pirate Drive.

"A Harley-Davidson XL1200C was traveling north on SR 3 in the right travel lane and struck the Buick Envision in its passenger side. The driver of the Harley-Davidson was thrown from the motorcycle, and came to rest in the intersection of SR 3 and Old Zebulon Road.

"The driver of the motorcycle was transported by medivac to Grady Memorial Hospital due to his injuries. The Georgia State Patrols Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) was notified and is assisting in this investigation.

On August 14, 2024 at 12:14am, the driver of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries that were sustained from the crash."

GSP has also advised as follows: "Please keep in mind that the information released is preliminary in nature and could change as the investigation progresses or new information comes to light."
