ZEBULON - On Friday, September 26, 2014 around 10:49 p.m., the Sheriff's Office Traffic Units responded to a single car accident on New Hope Road just outside of the city limits of Zebulon. One person was transported by ambulance with serious injury, and numerous charges have been placed against the driver and one occupant of the vehicle.
While the accident is still under investigation and all details are not available at this time, Major David Neal advised that the female driver was determined to have consumed alcohol prior to the wreck. The occupant in the passenger seat suffered serious injury from the wreck and was taken to a local hospital with broken bones.
Poole Rittie, 18 years of age from Griffin, was the driver of this vehicle. She has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, serious injury by vehicle (felony), violation of seatbelt law, and failure to maintain lane.
Another of the four total occupants of the car, Robert Deloach, 18 years old from Molena, was also arrested and charged with open container, violation of seatbelt law, and consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Rittie and Deloach were transported to the Pike County Jail.
