GRIFFIN - A 2005 Columbia Freightliner truck was involved in an accident and overturned in the ditch on Hwy 19 South in the right lane south of Odell Road around 10:13 a.m. on August 24, 2026.
According to the accident report from the Georgia State Patrol, the trailer was raised as it was traveling southbound and the front of the trailer struck a utility line, which caused the top of a utility pole to break. After impact, vehicle #1 traveled 1,368 feet before overturning on its right side, coming to an uncontrolled final rest on the right shoulder. The area of impact was in the right lane.
The driver stated the truck was feeling funny and that he looked back and saw the trailer raised in the air. He further stated that his truck went side to side before overturning.
The witness stated that he was sitting in his office and heard several horns blowing. The witness stated that he looked out of his office window and saw the trailer in the air. The witness stated that trailer hit the power line.
The driver of the truck had suspected minor or visible injury but was not transported for treatment from the scene of the accident.
The power line and utility pole that were damaged belonged to Griffin Power.
