ZEBULON - On Saturday, 10 June 2023, the Pike County American Legion Post 197 will host a 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk Fundraiser to be held in Zebulon. The Pike County Chamber of Commerce is helping sponsor this event.

Signs will direct vehicles to designated parking areas. The start will be at the American Legion Post 197 building 645 Meansville Steet, Zebulon. Please contact the Event Director, Bryan Richardson at 678-764-2611 or email: rich5060@bellsouth.net if you have any questions.

This event is Post 197’s fourth Run/Walk in Zebulon and its 16th overall in Pike County. The Run/Walk is a fundraising event to benefit our American Legion Veteran and Community programs while at the same time provide a healthy event for the community.

The events rotate among the five cities of Pike County. By participating in each of the city events, one can conduct the Tour de Pike through traveling to and participating in the scenic courses. If you are an avid runner, you can use this event as an interesting workout for your running program. We take pride in providing scenic courses. For those of you who have attended previous Run/Walks in the Zebulon, the two courses are generally flat; and use city streets and sidewalks, elementary school nature trail, old railroad bed trails, parts of the High School cross country course, and county secondary paved and dirt roads.

There are rest areas the thirsty and tired, and there are mile markers for those timing themselves. Use of exercise strollers should not be a mobility problem and having dogs on leashes is fine.

Individual persons or participants can help sponsor the event with a donation of $50. The donation allows you to add a deceased Veteran to be listed on the back of the T-shirt.

There are opportunities for event sponsors as well.
