Pike County Retired Educators Association Meets Monthly

ZEBULON - PCREA, Pike County Retired Educators Association, held the 2nd meeting of the 2024-2025 school year on October 28th. Thirty-six people attended.

President Diane Beres opened the meeting, followed by a devotional entitled "The Great Stabilizer" given by Jamie Crawford. Cathy Takle gave the Treasurer's Report.

On Tuesday, October 29, 2024 a Proclamation honoring Retired Educators was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for Pike County. Local churches are encouraged to recognize their members who are retired educators on November 3, 2024, Retired Educators Day.

The recipient of the scholarship PCREA gave on Honors Night, 2023-2024, was Marlie Stephens. We surely wish her much success ahead. Ms. Brenda Mathis was our presenter.

On Wednesday, October 30th PCREA presented to the Pike County Historical Society the scrapbook from the 2023-2024 school year. Helen McDevitt shared that we again would be collecting for Operation Angel Tree. Any member choosing to donate can do so at our next meeting, December 9th, or mail to: PCREA, P.O. Box 5, Zebulon, GA. 30295.

Glenda Goldman will be coordinating our contributors for Little Manna. More details later.

Our Door Prize winner was Brenda Caraway.

We had 2 guest speakers this month. Both gave us much valuable information.

Mrs. Beth Camp, State Representative for District 135, gave an update on the District 135, and Mr. Mark Matulia, Financial Advisor of Pike County Schools, spoke about Health Insurance.

September Meeting

Pike County Retired Educators Association held its first meeting of the 2024-2025 school year on September 23rd. There were 37 members present. Our theme this year is HATS OFF TO EDUCATORS.

President Diane Beres called the meeting to order. Newly retired who have become members were introduced. The Treasurer's Report was given by Cathy Takle. Brenda Mathis gave report from the Scholarship Committee. Jamie Crawford's devotional spoke of the history of the phrase HATS OFF.

November 3rd ha been proclaimed as Georgia Educators Day.

Our Door Prize recipient was Rosemary Bunn.

United Bank hosted this first meeting for PCREA. Guest speakers were Renee Watson, Cassie Crane, and Greta Wood from the Fraud Prevention Department who gave much needed information.

Goodie Bags were prepared and delivered to Pike County Schools bus drivers and personnel in appreciation for all of their hard work.
